Contraindications of tooth extraction

Contraindications of tooth extraction

Absolute contraindications:

1. Acute infectious diseases: acute respiratory viral infections, influenza, scarlet fever, which can provoke the development of complications.

2. Severe heart and vascular diseases: severe arrhythmias, recent myocardial infarction, unstable angina pectoris.

3. Uncontrolled blood diseases: hemophilia or severe anemia.

4. Exacerbation of chronic diseases: exacerbation of peptic ulcer disease, severe diabetes.

5. Mental disorders (if the patient cannot adequately perceive what is happening and follow the doctor's instructions).

Relative contraindications:

1. Pregnancy: especially the first and last trimesters. During pregnancy, it is recommended to postpone non-urgent dental procedures.

2. Diseases of the cardiovascular system: patients with hypertension, coronary artery disease or other cardiovascular diseases need special precautions.

3. Diabetes mellitus: Patients with diabetes have a higher risk of infectious complications, so careful monitoring of blood sugar levels is required.

4. Immunodeficiency conditions: Including patients taking immunosuppressive drugs, for example, after organ transplantation.

5. Taking anticoagulants: Patients taking blood thinners may have an increased risk of bleeding during and after tooth extraction.

These contraindications to tooth extraction are not unconditional. Only the attending physician can determine contraindications in each specific case after examining the patient.

Before any dental procedure, including tooth extraction, it is important to collect a complete medical history (medical history, medical condition of the patient).

Be sure to consult with your dentist to assess all potential risks and take appropriate precautions.
